Join Us for Adult Forum
on Sunday Mornings

Bishop Haynes, in her recent address to Council, spoke of the work and discernment that will take place over the next year to craft a vision for the Diocese. She suggested that any path forward would need to include a reclaiming of our Benedictine heritage.

With an idea that it is never too early to start such an undertaking, St. Luke’s Adult Forum During Lent will explore some of the ideas and themes expressed by Benedict and why they are important in our present age.

Benedict’s world was one of monumental changes and tumult. No part of life was protected from forces that were tearing the political, social, and religious realms into shreds. Benedict’s wisdom was to re-introduce communities to the primary calling of all people, to claim their identity as God’s beloved.

03/09 – Benedict’s World and His Wisdom for Today!

03/16 – Stability (Rootedness), Change (Conversion), and Obedience (Listening)

03/23 – Living with Myself, Others, and the World

04/06 – Balance – “Nothing harsh, nothing burdensome.”
Adult Forum meets in the Parish Hall, 9:10am-10:00am.

Wednesday Lenten Suppers - Will you…? Living the Questions
Jeanne Finin, in Remember Your Baptism, writes, “Baptism is not the end of our faith journey, but the beginning.” The Baptismal Covenant, as we have inherited it, begins and ends with a series of questions addressed to the gathered community. These questions recall the truth, that our baptismal identity is lived out in how we walk through our everyday lives. Also, the questions invite reflection on our learning what it means to be a Christian simply by being one, by living as one, by pondering what it means and how to act on that meaning.
St. Luke’s Wednesday Lenten Suppers, Will you…? Living the Questions, will provide time and space to consider our answers to the questions of the Baptismal Covenant. Most importantly, the evening will ask us to regard how we live the answers to the questions in our lives.
The evening will begin at 5:30 with a provided meal of soup, salad, and bread. This simple fare, with no sides and no desserts, will aid in creating the feel of the Lenten Season.
The program portion of our time together will begin at 6:00 and conclude by 6:50 pm. At that time Compline will be said and we will end at 7:00 pm.
03/12 – Will you continue in the apostles' teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of the bread, and in the prayers?
03/19 – Will you persevere in resisting evil, and, whenever you fall into sin, repent and return to the Lord?
03/26 – Will you proclaim by word and example the Good News of God in Christ?
04/02 – Will you seek and serve Christ in all persons, loving your neighbor as yourself?
04/09 – Will you strive for justice and peace among all people, and respect the dignity of every human being?
